About the Speakers:
Swechhya Rajbhandary co-founded and leads the Office of Safe and Respectable Learning (OSRL) department at King's College, Nepal, that was established to prevent harassment and discrimination, and to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice. She is also the program lead at Communiversity Nepal, an initiative to reimagine higher education in Nepal by bringing community, academia and industry in the curriculum to foster agency in self and community. She completed her Gender Equality Studies and Training Program (GRÓ GEST) postgraduate diploma from the University of Iceland and her Bachelor’s from Knox College, USA. She is a Teach for Nepal alumna and Global Girl’s Education Fellowship alumna, Teach for All, USA (2020). Her interests primarily include youth empowerment, especially establishing, legitimizing, and safeguarding their voice. She strongly believes in advocating and taking action against systemic injustices, especially through the lens of gender, identity, and intersectionality.
Sushobhan Chimoriya (any pronouns) is an educator, activist, and development professional with a BBA in Investment and Economics from King’s College. They currently work as the Program Coordinator at the Office of Safe & Respectable Learning (OSRL) at King’s College. They co-run “Pahichan,” a module centered on positionality, identity, and inclusion. At OSRL, they also help design and run events and workshops that explore positionality, identity, reflexivity, and the creation of safe spaces within the college community. In this role, they are additionally documenting a comprehensive grievance-handling process to strengthen support and accountability across the institution. Alongside this, Sushobhan serves as the college’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Lead, embedding DEIA principles into institutional practices by conducting a DEIA audit and providing recommendations to improve systems and policies.
