About the Speakers:
Seika Sato got her PhD in anthropology from the University of Tokyo in 2004. She is currently a professor at the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Teikyo University. She has worked on ethnographic studies in Nepal, centering around various issues in lives of minority women. She is the author of Conversing with the Hyolmo Women: An Anthropology of Life/Story in Nepal (Tokyo: Sangensha, 2015, in Japanese). She is also one of the editors of the journal Studies in Nepali History and Society.
Meeta S. Pradhan got her PhD in sociology from the University of Michigan in 2011. She has extensive development experience in Nepal and has done research on issues related to gender equality, social inclusion, biodiversity conservation and climate change. She has led various assignments for studies commissioned by several donors. She is currently affiliated with Southasia Institute of Advanced Studies and the Institute for Social and Environmental Research–Nepal (ISER-N), Nepal.
