Media

During the last decade the print media in particular has flourished; the numbers of daily and weekly papers and regular magazines in the Nepali print market and FM radios has shot up exponentially. These publications and radios are actively shaping the nature of Nepal's public discourse, and helping to form the collective imagination of the country. A comprehensive research and analysis on media is vital to enhancing the quality of Nepal’s democratic discourse.

Media research has been an indispensable area of MC activities since 2000. As part of our objectives most of the research has helped to bolster in-depth, investigative, thought provoking and critical writings on print and radio. Most of our findings has identified potential local and national stakeholders, and areas and ways to improve media records, to enhance organizational and individual capabilities of media in Nepal. An integral part of media analysis is also focused on monitoring media quality; raising several issues relating to most prominent print and radio media institutions and accelerating public dialogue and debates on media issues. The research findings are incorporated in several Nepali language books.
