News from the Periphery: Nepali and Chinese Journalists’ Role Perceptions
Dharma Adhikari, PhD, Associate Professor of Journalism, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Suzhou, China
About the Speaker:
Before he obtained his doctorate in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia (MU) in 2004, Dharma Adhikari worked as a reporter, editor and writer in Kathmandu. Since 2017, he has taught at universities in China, including at Shantou University, and currently teaches at the transnational Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. Previously, he also taught at MU and at Georgia Southern University in the US. He has been a long-time Nepali commentator on journalism and writes the “MediaSutra” column for The Kathmandu Post. He maintains interest in journalism studies focused on news and editorial practices, global media systems, and intersections of communication, society, and new media/tech.
