This year we received 31 applications in total. First screening of the application was made by the media research group of Martin Chautari based on the completeness of the application and the coherence of the proposed research and its methodology. Fifteen applicants passed through this first screening. Their application was then independently evaluated by a selection committee comprising of Binod Bhattarai from the Centre for Investigative Journalism (CIJ), Manju Thapa from Asmita Women's Publication and Jagannath Adhikari from Martin Chautari. Based on the judgment of this committee, five candidates were selected as fellows for 2006. We apologise for the delay in announcing the result, which is solely due to the recent political situation in the country.
